The mass media have brought about profound changes in the political landscape,
and most especially for presidential campaigns. The nature and magnitude of
these changes raises provocative questions about the roles that media
professionals play-and should play-in the 2008 Presidential Campaign. Panelists
will share their perspectives on these important issues and invite audience
participation.

Members of the Rhode Island news media will discuss a variety of issues tied to
this year's election with the crowd as well as invited political experts and
dignitaries. Following this town hall forum, attendees will watch the debate
together and will then share their reactions through participation in focus
groups. The RIC results will be reported to the CPD and will be included in
press releases that synthesize the national results. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

This forum will provide up-to-date insight into patterns and trends of the 2008
Presidential Election. Additionally, panelists will explore such issues as the
fundamentals of the primary and electoral college system, candidate styles and
strategies, and the impact of presidential debates.
