Academic Background
I began my teaching career as an intermediate classroom teacher in Northern Wisconsin. Eventually I earned a Master's Degree in Reading that led to a job as a reading specialist near Green Bay, Wisconsin. Before enrolling at the University of Wisconsin - Madison, I was a reading consultant and a field-test manager for a commercial reading program. I was able to conduct workshops in all parts of the US before earning a Ph.D. in 1973. I fell in love with New England once I started teaching at Rhode Island College. As the Program Director of the M.Ed. in Reading program, my passion is to provide graduate students with the best program possible. My non-academic interests center around ocean sailboat racing, cross-country marathon skiing, competitive rowing, and worldwide travel.Courses Taught
