Applying for Housing
New students who are accepted and enrolled at the College by the deadlines
established by the Admissions Office are eligible for on campus housing.
Transfer and new students should apply for housing through the Admissions Office
at the time of their acceptance to the college.
Incoming New Students
To be considered for on-campus housing, an accepted student must pay the $100.
enrollment fee and have a Residence Hall Request Card on file with the
Admissions Office by May 1. Students are sent the Residence Hall Request Card in
their acceptance packet from the College. ONLY those students who complete the
above criteria will be offered on-campus housing.
At the end of May, all students who paid the enrollment deposit and had the
request card on file are sent a room offering packet. The room offering packet
contains the housing contract, a roommate selection form, a residence hall
preference card, an emergency card and an offering letter. Students who are
offered a residence hall space will be given a mid-June deadline in which to pay
a $214.00 room deposit and to submit their signed Housing and Dining Contract
and other forms in the packet. Actual room assignments will be made according to
the date on which your deposit is received. Therefore, students who return their
deposits early have a better chance of getting their first choice of room. ONLY
those students who return the contract and housing forms along with the $214.
room deposit by the designated deadline are guaranteed a space in the residence
halls for the fall semester.
The $214.00 deposit consists of the following:
-
$100.00 Non-Refundable Room Reservation which will be credited to your
total bill for the spring semester (only if you live on campus for the
full academic year).
-
$100.00 Damage Deposit which will be credited to your account at the end
of the academic year, minus the cost of any damages or other fees owed
to the Office of Residential Life and Housing (i.e. disciplinary fines,
movie fines, etc.).
-
$14.00 Non-Refundable Hall Dues which goes to your building Residence
Hall Council for programming activities and events.
Rooms are contracted for the entire academic year and the terms of the contract
require the purchase of a meal plan. Every effort is made to place students
according to their hall preference, depending on the availability of the spaces.
Students, who have met all deadlines and requirements, are sent their room
assignment, the name and contact information for their roommate (if applicable)
and information regarding the move-in schedule for the residence halls in early
August.
Any students who miss the May 1 deadline or the mid-June deadline can place
their name on the wait list by contacting the Office of Residential Life and
Housing. The wait list is then used during the academic year to fill any
vacancies that occur.
Please contact the Office of Residential Life and Housing at (401) 456-8240 if
you have any questions about the above information.
