CRIARL Card

The James P. Adams Library is a member of the Consortium of Rhode Island Academic and Research Libraries (CRIARL), which is a cooperative effort involving all of the college and university libraries in Rhode Island, as well as the Providence Public Library, the Rhode Island Historical Society, and the Rhode Island State Library.  A CRIARL card grants walk-in access to all CRIARL member libraries and borrowing privileges at most.

All Rhode Island College faculty and professional staff on continuing ppointment are eligible for a CRIARL card providing that their library accounts are active and in good standing.

CRIARL cards are issued at the Circulation Desk and are generally renewable on a yearly basis from the date of issue.  Exceptions to this rule include the following:

  • Adjunct faculty members are eligible for a CRIARL card that will be issued for the current semester only.
  • Currently-enrolled graduate students may be issued CRIARL cards, in cases where the resources available to them in Adams Library are not sufficient for their research needs.  A reference interview must first be conducted and issuance of the card will be at the discretion of the Library Director and will be for the current semester only.

All borrowing privileges are subject to the rules of the lending library.  This policy is in full accordance with the stipulations of the CRIARL Card Program.
