NewspapersThe library subscribes to several domestic and international newspapers. Indexes to the contents of most of these newspapers are available in the INDEX area near the Reference Desk on the third floor. Newspapers are shelved in the Periodicals Reading Area near the Periodicals Office on the third floor. The most current months are available in print, and older issues of most of the newspapers are kept on microfilm. Newspapers on microfilm are kept in cabinets outside the Microforms Room, and readers and reader/printers are available. Lexis NexisNew York Times HistoricalProvidence JournalIndexing for the Providence Journal from 1983 to the present is available on the Journal's own web site and full-text of locally-written articles from 1995 to present can be searched, emailed, or downloaded from the Providence Journal Index database. Selected pre-1986 articles have been indexed by the Providence Public Library for their Rhode Island Index file which may be consulted at the main library, 225 Washington St., Providence (455-8000). |
