VideosIn May 2007, videotapes and DVDs* from the Audiovisual Services Instructional Media (AV) Collection were transferred to the Library to increase the opportunity for students and faculty to locate, borrow, and view these resources. * The 16 mm films that have been distributed to faculty by Audiovisual Services over the years are still available through the AV Department. Finding FilmsPlease note: Not all videos can be located in the HELIN catalog. About 1000 of the most recently used videos from AV have been added to the Helin catalog. More are being added daily, but there are still almost 4000 to go. For assistance in locating the uncataloged videos, please contact the Reference department (x8125 or jimmypref@ric.edu) Browse RIC videos in the HELIN catalog: Find videos in the HELIN catalog by keyword, title, or director/actor: Location Reserves: Videotapes from the AV Collection that either have shown any amount of use over the past four years or are recent acquisitions (about 900 in all) have been placed in a general video section on shelves behind the Reserve Desk on Level 3 of the Library. Level 2: The remaining videotapes and DVDs from the AV Collection have been shelved on Level 2. BorrowingWhen videos from Course Reserves or from the general video Reserves are needed, faculty should check these out at the Library's Reserve Desk. Videos from the videotape and DVD collections on Level 2 should be checked out at the Circulation Desk. Placing Videos on ReserveFaculty are asked to contact the Library’s Reserve Desk (x 8129) to make arrangements for placing those videos they need for class use on Course Reserves. The normal loan policies applied to materials on reserve pertain to these videos, although they may be checked out by faculty members for use in the classroom. Faculty may also request that library staff place videos of interest or concern to them from among the videotapes and DVDs on Level 2 into the general video section behind the Reserve Desk, where access is more limited. AV EquipmentLibrary: Six viewing stations are located near the Reserves desk on Level 3. Classroom: Faculty who wish to reserve AV equipment for classroom use along with videos may place requests for both the equipment and videos at the AV Department (x8020) up to 24 hours in advance of class time. AV staff will borrow the requested video(s) from the Library and deliver the equipment and video(s) to the classroom. If no equipment is needed, faculty should come to the Library to borrow the video(s).
