7 Monday New student orientation begins
9 Wednesday Spring semester registration begins for non-degree students
18 Friday Early Spring classes end
18 Friday Spring semester waiver registration for diabled veterans, Nation Guard (STEP Program), senior citizens, and students with unemployment waivers.

February

1 Friday Rhode Island College Applications for Financial Aid - Summer Sessions are available at the Office of Studen Financial Aid
1 Friday Deadline for selection of department chairs by president for vacancies occurring July 1.
1 Friday Annual review of faculty: After consulting with DAC, chair submits evaluation by chair and DAC to faculty member and meets with person.  Faculty member signs evaluation and recommendation form (not implying agreement) and may append comments.
4 Monday Last day to add classes. Spring semester enrollment official as of close of business.
8 Friday Council of Rhode Island College meets
18 Monday NOTE: Washington's Birthday is not observed as a holiday for employees of the State of Rhode Island; therefore, classes are held and the college operates on a normal basis.
25 Monday Summer Session registration begins for degree candidates.

March

1 Friday Deadline to file FAFSA (new freshmen and continuing upperclass students)
1 Friday Summer faculty course appointment forms distributed for those appointed before February 16
1 Friday Deadline for students tosubmit proposals to the Committee on Student-Designed Majors for fall semester
4 Monday Summer Session registration begins for non-degree students
8 Friday Council of Rhode Island College meeets
8 Friday Mid-semester grades need to be submitted over the next two weeks
9 Saturday Mid-Semester (except for Monday classes, which complete seven class meetings on March 18)
11 Monday Spring recess begins
15 Friday VPAA submits tenure and promotion recommendations and supporting materials to president
18 Monday Classes resume
29 Friday Last day to withdraw from classes without permission
29 Friday Cap and Gown Awards forms due to Commencement Coordinator from department chairs

April

1 Monday Fall semester registration begins for degree candidates
1 Monday Graduate Assistantship applications are due
1 Monday Rhode Island College Applications for Financial Aid—Summer Sessions are due at the Office of Student Financial Aid
3 Wednesday Grad Fest
5 Friday Council of Rhode Island College meets
5 Friday President forwards tenure decisions to RIOHE for RIBOE consideration at its next meeting
7 Sunday President notifies faculty of promotion/tenure actions; in cases where an administrator had rejected/modified chair’s recommendation to the disadvantage of the faculty member on matters of initial retention/salary increments/ promotion/ tenure, president must return materials to chair by this date
15 Monday President may fill department chair vacancies after this date if departmental nominees were not acceptable
15 Monday Notification of department chairs who are to be offered Summer Session contracts.
15 Monday Faculty Research Committee to submit annual budget request to the president
15 Monday Semi-annual deadline for College Lectures Committee to review expenditures for re-allocation purposes
15 Monday Deadline for Alumni Association Nominating Committee to present slate of nominees for directors of the Alumni Board to the Director of Alumni Affairs
15 Monday Deadline for active Alumni to declare their intention to run for the At Large director’s position
15 Monday Application deadline for students who seek Summer Session or fall semester independent study
19 Wednesday Final action of president on retention/ salary increments/ promotion/ tenure in cases where department chair’s recommendations not accepted (see Apr. 7)

May

1 Wednesday Deadline for application for leave requiring budgeted funds (for leaves beginning 16 months hence)
1 Wednesday Non-renewal of term appointments: faculty in second year of service for terms ending in January
1 Wednesday Mandatory evaluation period begins for all PSA employees
1 Wednesday Cap and Gown Convocation
3 Friday Council of Rhode Island College meets
4 Saturday Emergency Make-Up Day* (if needed)
6 Monday Spring semester classes end
7 Tuesday Final examinations begin
10 Friday Elections for new Council officers by Council-elect
13 Monday Final examinations end
15 Wednesday Remaining grades due by noon
15 Wednesday Deadline to file FAFSA for new transfers and readmits
15 Wednesday Deadline for Alumni Director to notify all active alumni of the proposed slate of officers/directors, At Large nominees, and the date, time, and location of the June Alumni Board meeting.
15 Wednesday School of Nursing Pinning Ceremony for spring graduates

*Emergency makeup day to be used only if so designated by college administration. If it is, faculty members may choose to schedule a class/exam on this day and will notify their students accordingly.

June

1 Saturday Last day of mandatory evaluation period for all PSA and BOG employees
1 Saturday Second bachelor’s degree application deadline for fall enrollment
1 Saturday First day for submission of 2014-2015 PSA sabbatical proposals to appropriate VP
1 Saturday Deadline for Committee on College Lectures to submit its annual budget request to VPAA
28 Friday Summer Session I ends
28 Friday Summer Session II waiver registration for disabled veterans, National Guard (STEP Program), senior citizens, and students with unemployment waivers
30 Sunday Final day for submission of 2014-2015 PSA sabbatical proposals to appropriate VP
30 Sunday Deadline for notification of third-year associate professors/ professors without tenure that they will be recommended for tenure or not reappointed beyond the fourth year.
30 Sunday Deadline for notification of third-year instructors if they are not to be reappointed beyond their fourth year.
30 Sunday Promotion and tenure become effective for those promoted to associate or full professor after 2 or more years of full time service at RIC
30 Sunday Academically dismissed students to be dropped from any future courses for which they may have previously registered.

July

1 Monday Summer Session II begins
1 Monday New fiscal year begins
1 Monday Terms begin for new members of Council
