Rhode Island College welcomes international students who add to the rich cultural and ethnic diversity of our campus community.
Special admission procedures are required of international students. For purposes of admission, an international student is defined as a student who is studying or wishes to study in the U.S. on a non-immigrant visa. This definition does not include permanent residents (who can supply a copy of both sides of the resident alien card) or refugees. For additional information please visit our website at

email@example.com. International applicants who are transferring from another U.S. college or university must notify the registrar of the "sending" institution of their plans to transfer to Rhode Island College.
Rhode Island College is an exclusive member of the Common Application. All students applying for undergraduate admission, including international students, must complete the Common Application and Rhode Island College supplement.
- A completed Common Application and RIC Supplement. This includes the required 250-word college essay and $50 nonrefundable application fee. The Common Application may be completed online at
www.commonapp.org. International students currently living or studying in the U.S. must also supply a home country address on the application
- Official copies of all academic records with a certified evaluation
and English translation.
English Language Proficiency
Scores on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or IELTS for students whose native language is not English is required. SAT scores may be required for students whose native language is English.

Note: For international students affected by testing center closures due to the coronavirus (COVID-19), Rhode Island College has temporarily approved the use of the Duolingo English test for English proficiency. Duolingo English tests with a score of 100 or higher will be accepted as evidence of English proficiency for students seeking admission while testing centers are closed. Freshman & Transfer deadline- June 1
Students seeking on campus housing should have all materials in prior to March 1. Housing is guaranteed for new freshmen who have been admitted and enrolled prior to May 1.
Freshman & Transfer deadline- November 15
On-campus housing may be available for the spring semester.
Financial Guarantee Statement
Declaration and Certification of Finances Form is required after acceptance and before an I-20 can be issued. Students must show funds available to cover the cost of one year's tuition, room and board, fees and books.
Where to Have Educational Credentials Evaluated
Rhode Island College requires all students to have any coursework completed outside the U.S. translated and evaluated by an accredited agency. This includes members of
AICE. The credential evaluation is a very important step in the application process and does require a significant amount of time (generally 4-6 weeks). You must contact the agency directly. In the past, international applicants have used:
