Effective Summer 2009, students whose permanent address is one of the following Massachusetts/Connecticut cities/towns (click here for list) are eligible for a special tuition discount at Rhode Island College of the in-state tuition rate plus 50%. Using 2008 tuition figures, this represents an annual savings of about $6000 over the out of state rate.
The Connecticut region includes all of Windham County, New London County (except Lyme, East Lyme and Old Lyme) and Tolland County (except Bolton, Hebron, Somers and Vernon).
The Massachusetts region includes all of Norfolk County, Plymouth County, Bristol County, Suffolk County, Dukes County and parts of Worcester County and Middlesex County.
New England residents who live outside Rhode Island may enroll in specified curricula at RIC for in-state tuition rates plus 50%. The student's program of study must not be offered at an institution in the student's home state, or RIC must be closer in traveling time to the student's legal residence than it is to an institution offering an approved program in the home state. If the student changes major to a non-NEBHE program, he/she will be charged out-of-state tuition.
