Suzy Alba

Young Alumni Award

Criteria: Graduated in the last 10 years from the College, and has made a contribution to the College, since graduation, by giving time, talent, or resources (e.g., mentor of current students or alumni, involvement or volunteer with a campus group or activities, or providing internship opportunities to current students or job opportunities to recent graduates).

Suzy Alba has not skipped a beat since graduating from the College four years ago! As president of the Class of 2005, she served on the Alumni Board and has since then been involved with alumni events. A graduate of the College Leadership R.I. program and a recipient of the program’s Emerging Leader Award, Suzy’s commitment as a college volunteer and community volunteer is extraordinary. Suzy serves on the Young Alumni Advisory Group, is a member of the college’s committee on Use of Human Participants in Research, participates in commencement and served as a panelist in the communications department’s alumni day. Last summer she hosted and mentored a student intern for Upward Bound. In addition to her duties at the United Way, she is board chair for the East Bay Coalition for the Homeless, serves on Smithfield’s Affordable Housing Advisory Board, is a national committeewoman for R.I. Young Democrats, volunteers for WaterFire Providence, and is an AmeriCorps alumna. She is currently working towards her MPA degree.
