2013-2014 Annual Fund

Each year the alumni association contacts alumni and friends of Rhode Island College and asks for gifts to the Alumni Association Annual Fund. The Annual Fund provides the Alumni Association with resources to support the college, its students and its faculty.

Annual fund Distribution

When asked to make a gift, most people find it helpful to know how the funds are used by the Alumni Association. The chart below demonstrates the typical allocation of funds received through the annual fund.

It is difficult to imagine where the funding would originate for these activities and special allocations if it were not for the gifts made to the Alumni Association Annual Fund. Every gift to the annual fund is used to help our students, faculty and alumni.

Please consider a gift to the 2013-2014 Alumni Association Annual Fund.

YOUR SUPPORT DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

How is the Fund Used?

40%Student Scholarships

The dominant use of gifts to the annual fund is to provide students with financial assistance. More than $100,000 is awarded each year.

"No one has to tell me the value of having an education from Rhode Island College. My mother and two of my cousins are graduates. This college prepares you not only for a job, but for a successful career. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for my scholarship. It means so much to me and to my family." Read more...

20%Communications

A recent alumni survey indicated that 48% of respondents identified the Alumni Magazine as important or very important to them as a source of news and information from Rhode Island College.

Publishing this magazine twice a year is essential. Funding also keeps alumni informed through email messages, printed announcements and social media outlets.

7%Alumni Events

A vital function of the Alumni Association is to offer a variety of interesting events and activities that provide alumni with opportunities to interact with each other. We also sponsor get-togethers that bring together alumni and current students in meaningful ways.

5%Faculty Support

The Alumni Association provides funds for faculty interested in special research programs.

"My research at RIC has been funded by the Faculty Research Fund as well as Rhode Island's Science and Technology Advisory Council (RI-STAC), Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR) and IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence (INBRE). The last three would not have been possible without the first. These grants provide research opportunities for our students that make them very competitive applicants for graduate, medical and pharmacy schools and jobs in industry."
