Denis Chartier begins his second season as the head women's lacrosse coach at Rhode Island College.  Chartier is the third coach in the program's seven-year history.

Taking over the program just prior to the start of the 2007 season, Chartier's team posted a 3-11 overall record and a 1-5 (sixth place) mark in the Little East Conference.

Chartier is also RIC’s head women’s soccer coach. In his first season this past fall, Chartier led his charges to an overall record of 14-8, including a 3-4-0 mark in the Little East Conference. He established a new benchmark for wins in a single-season, adding four to the previous standard. Chartier also set the single-season record for most consecutive victories, registering nine straight wins between Sept. 9 and Oct. 4, 2006. The Anchorwomen earned their first berth into the Eastern College Athletic Conference New England Division III Tournament.

“Coaching both programs gives me a great opportunity to mentor my student-athletes,” said Chartier.

He owns a United States Soccer Federation B License.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in management from Johnson & Wales University in 1984.

Chartier resides in Oakland, Rhode Island with his wife Denise. They are the proud parents of
two children: Joseph (31) and Matthew (30) and have two grandchildren.
