Kareem
Hayletts enters his second season as an assistant men’s basketball
coach at Rhode Island College. He assists head coach Bob Walsh with
all phases of the RIC men’s basketball program including recruiting,
scouting, administering practices and game coaching.
Hayletts
joined the Anchormen
after four varsity seasons at Providence College, where he played for
then assistant coach Walsh. The three-time recipient of the Unsung
Hero Award earned a scholarship prior to his senior season.
During his senior campaign, Hayletts saw action in a career-high 31
contests. On Feb. 18 2003, Hayletts scored a career-high six points on
three field goals to propel Providence past Miami, 73-63. The Friars’
accepted their 16th berth into the N.I.T. Tournament that season,
advancing to the third round.
Hayletts also has previous coaching experience on the summer camp
circuit, serving as an instructor at the Providence College Basketball
Camp, International Youth Basketball Camp, and Eastern Invitational
Basketball Camp.
A
native of Bergenfield, New Jersey, Hayletts earned a bachelor’s degree
in finance in 2003, and is currently working on his M.B.A. at
Providence College.
He
is single and resides in Providence, Rhode Island.
