RIC Sweeps Doubleheader Over UMass-Dartmouth
Providence, RI—First baseman Michele Fanelli went 2-3 with a double and three RBI to lead RIC to a 10-2 victory over UMass-Dartmouth in the first game of a Little East Conference doubleheader.
RIC pitcher Kim Warrington went the complete game, allowing two unearned runs and striking out eight to improve to 9-5 on the season. Outfielder Sue Gaber went 2-3 with three runs scored and shortstop Melanie Miller went 2-3 with two runs scored, a triple and two RBI.
In the nightcap, outfielder Hollie Benevides went 3-3 with a run scored as RIC won the second game, 7-2. RIC pitcher Casey Soares went the distance, yielding just one earned run and striking out nine. The win helps Soares improve to 4-2 on the season.
With the sweep, RIC improved to 13-8 overall and 3-1 in the Little East Conference, while the losses drop UMass-Dartmouth to 1-18 on the season and 1-7  in conference play.
In upcoming action, RIC will play at UMass-Boston tomorrow afternoon.
