Providence, RI—Rhode Island College improved to 14-9-1 overall with a 21-8 victory over Wentworth in collegiate baseball action. The Leopards fall to 6-16 in the loss.
RIC designated hitter Eric Gibree led the offensive attack, going 4-7 with four RBI, four runs scored and clouted his seventh home run of the year. Center fielder Glenn Dusablon also went 4-7 with two RBI and three runs. Left fielder Chris Smaldone went 3-3 with two RBI, two runs and a double. Brian Farley picked up his second win (2-0) in relief of starting pitcher Jason DeCesare.
Wentworth shortstop Chris LeConte was a bright spot in the loss, going 3-5 with three runs and a double. Starting pitcher Jared Cianciolo (0-1) was saddled with the loss.
In upcoming action, RIC will host LEC rival Eastern Connecticut tomorrow beginning at Noon.
