Fanelli & Warrington Help RIC Split With Plymouth State

Providence, RI—Rhode Island
College blanked Plymouth State College, 9-0, in the second game of a
doubleheader in collegiate softball action, improving to 17-9-1
overall and 6-2-1 in the Little East Conference. The Panthers took
game one 5-3, ending the day with an 18-5 overall mark and a 4-4
record in the LEC. |

RIC pitcher Kim Warrington
was the hard luck loser in game one, allowing no earned runs and
striking out four. She picked up her 12th win of the season
(12-6) with a five-hit, four strikeout, shutout in game two. First
baseman Michele Fanelli went 6-7 with three doubles and a run
on the day. Left fielder Casey Soares went 2-3 with four RBI,
including a three-run triple in the nightcap. Designated player
Ashley Brooks went 5-6 with two RBI and two runs on the day. |

The Panthers took game one, led by
outfielder Maria Curran’s 2-4, one RBI and two-run effort.
Pitcher Kim Jeffs improved to 16-3 with the game one victory,
striking out six. Jeffs was called upon to relieve starter Rose
Eaton, who took the loss in game two, in the third inning. |

at Western Connecticut on Tuesday, Apr. 22. |
