Warriors Increase Win Streak to 17 |
|
Providence, RI—Eastern
Connecticut improved its current win streak to 17 games by sweeping a
doubleheader, 12-2, 9-0, from Rhode Island College in collegiate
baseball action. The Warriors improve to 26-4 overall and remain
unbeaten with a perfect 10-0 mark in the Little East Conference. RIC
falls to 14-11-1 overall and 1-5 in the LEC. |

Adam Czerwinski improved to
4-2, hurling a complete game, allowing only two runs and striking out
seven in the opening tilt. Second baseman Morgan Thompson
went 1-2 with three runs, three steals and two RBI. The Warriors made
the most of RIC’s mistakes, capitalizing on six Anchormen errors.
RIC’s Matt Brannon went 2-4 with two RBI and starter John
Botelho (2-4) took the loss. |

ECSU didn’t let up in game two as
winning pitcher Joey Serafass (4-0) and reliever Mike
Maruska combined to throw a two-hit shutout. Serafass struck out
five in seven innings of work, while Maruska k’d one in two frames.
Thompson capped a solid afternoon with a 2-3, three runs, two stolen
bases and one RBI effort. Outfielder Eugene Julien went 4-5
with two runs, two RBI, one double and two steals. RIC’s Jim Milano
took the loss, falling to 3-2 on the season. |
