SENIOR TRIO LEADS RIC TO SWEEP OF WARRIORS
|

Providence, RI—Seniors
Michele Fanelli, Melanie Miller and Caitlin Schimmel
all had key RBI in the sixth inning to lead RIC past Eastern
Connecticut in the opening game of a Little East Conference
doubleheader on senior day, 10-2. The Anchorwomen scored six runs in
the sixth inning to put the game away. |

Sophomore third baseman Amy
Machado went 2-3 with three RBI to help RIC take the opener.
Sophomore Kim Warrington went the distance, picking up her 13th
win of the season. |
|
In the nightcap, sophomore
Rachael Caldwell had an RBI double as the Anchorwomen took the
second game, 2-1. Casey Soares gave up just one unearned run
and struck out seven to help RIC improve to 19-11-1 and 9-4-1 in the
Little East. |
|
Warrior junior Shari D’Amico
took the tough-luck loss as Eastern Connecticut fell to 17-16 and 8-6
in conference play. |
|
In upcoming action, the Anchorwomen
will host a first round LEC tournament game on Tuesday Mar. 29. |
