Women’s Outdoor Tracksters Qualify for New England Championships
|

|
|
Providence, RI—Four
members of the Rhode Island College women’s outdoor track and field team
have qualified for the 2003 Div. III New England Championships, which
will be held at Williams College on Saturday, May 3.

|
Sophomore
Kate McCalligett (Warwick,
RI)
has qualified in the 200 and 400 meters. McCalligett
earned All-Alliance/Little East honors in four events at the LEC/MASCAC
Alliance Championships, hosted by RIC, on Sunday, Apr. 28. She placed
second in the 400 meters and third in the 200 meters with times of
1:00.51 and 26.25 respectively. McCalligett placed third as part of
the 4 x 100 meter relay and second as part of the 4 x 400 meter relay
with times of 52.34 and 4:16.15 respectively. |

Freshman
Dana Skorupa (Cumberland,
RI)
has qualified in the 100 meters and the 400 meter
hurdles. Skorupa earned All-Alliance/Little East honors in four events
at the LEC/MASCAC Alliance Championships, hosted by RIC, on Sunday,
Apr. 28. She placed fourth in the 100 meters with a time of 13.01
and sixth in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:09.42. Skorupa
placed third as part of the 4 x 100 meter relay and second as part of
the 4 x 400 meter relay with times of 52.34 and 4:16.15 respectively. |

Sophomore
Courtney Gardiner (Warwick,
RI)
has qualified in the long jump. Gardiner earned
All-Alliance/Little East honors in four events at the LEC/MASCAC
Alliance Championships, hosted by RIC, on Sunday, Apr. 28. She
placed seventh in the long jump and fifth in the triple jump with
leaps of 15’09.00” and 31’06.75” respectively. Gardiner placed third
as part of the 4 x 100 meter relay and second as part of the 4 x 400
meter relay with times of 52.34 and 4:16.15 respectively. |

Senior
Joanne Pora (Attleboro,
MA)
has qualified in the javelin. Pora earned All-Alliance/Little East
honors in the javelin, placing sixth at 105’04.00”. Pora placed tenth
in the shot with a distance of 26’04.25”, at the LEC/MASCAC Alliance
Championships, hosted by RIC, on Sunday, Apr. 28. |
