RIC ADVANCE WITH 6-1 WIN OVER BEACONS
|

Providence, RI—First baseman Michele
Fanelli’s 3-4, three RBI performance led Rhode Island College past
UMass-Boston, 6-1, in the opening round of the Little East Conference
softball tournament. The Anchorwomen reach the 20-win plateau for the
fifth consecutive season and eliminate the Beacons in the process.

Pitcher
Kim Warrington struck out seven and allowed no earned runs to
pick up her 15th win of the season. She also went 3-4 with
a double and one run scored to help her own cause. |

|
The
Anchorwomen advance to the double-elimination round, hosted by Western
Connecticut, on Friday and Saturday, May 2-3. RIC will face Plymouth
State College at 2 p.m. on Friday. |
