SENIOR SAVES THE DAY |
Providence, RI—Senior
pitcher Dan Furtado bailed Rhode Island College out of a bases
loaded jam in the sixth inning of game two, on the way to his fourth
save, helping the Anchormen split a doubleheader with UMass-Boston,
10-7. |
Brian Peer went 3-4 with two
runs, two doubles and two RBI and Glenn Dusablon went
3-5 with three runs, one double and an RBI to lead RIC. Eric
Gibree’s RBI single in the fourth inning tied the RIC
single-season record for hits at 55. Gibree is also one RBI away from
his 50th of the season, which would also tie a RIC record. |
The Beacons took game one, 6-3,
behind pitcher Mike DiLalla’s complete game, six-hit,
three-strikeout effort. DiLalla improved his record to 3-2 with the
win. Outfielder Johnny Ingalls provided the offensive spark,
going 4-5 with two runs scored. UMB was active on the basepaths,
stealing six bases in the opener. |
In upcoming
action, RIC will play a doubleheader at Western Connecticut tomorrow
afternoon. |
