HUSKIES TOP ANCHORWOMEN, 1-0
Providence, RI— Sophomore pitcher Melissa Henderson tossed a one-hit shutout and had five strikeouts to lead Southern Maine past Rhode Island College, 1-0, in the opening round of the ECAC Softball Tournament.
The Huskies scored the game's lone run on an RBI single by Kristi Steward in the third inning.  The Huskies advance to play Springfield College on Saturday in the next round.
RIC pitcher Kim Warrington took the loss despite yielding just one run and punching out 11 USM hitters. Junior Hollie Benevides had the lone hit for the Anchorwomen.
