Men’s Golf Season Summary

RI--Head
Coach John Fitta’s (Career Record: 4-22) team finished the
spring 2003 campaign with a 0-4 overall record. The club had several
meets cancelled due to inclement weather. |

|
Senior Joe
Padykula (Seekonk, MA) did double duty this spring, splitting his
time between the golf team and as a thrower on RIC’ outdoor track and
field squad. Padykula averaged a score of 89. He matched his
career-best score by firing an 84 vs. Worcester State on Mar. 26. |
|
|
|
As a junior in
2002, he averaged a score of 92.8 in the team’s six meets. Padykula
shot a season-low score of 84 against Johnson & Wales. During the fall
2001 season, he averaged a score of 90.3 in the team’s four meets. |

|
He is a nursing
major and 1999 graduate of Tri-County High School. |

Junior Ken
Ferrara (North Providence, RI) was named the team’s MVP. He closed
out the season averaging a team-low score of 85.0 in the club’s three
matches. He shot a season-low mark of 79 vs. Roger Williams on Apr.
23. |

Junior Brian
Schimmel (Cumberland, RI) averaged a score of 86.5 in two matches.
He fired a season-low score of 84 vs. Roger Williams on Apr. 23.

|
Freshman
Sean DeSilva (West Warwick, RI) averaged a score of 94.6 in three
matches. He fired a season-low score of 90 against Nichols on Apr. 2. |
