RIC Men’s Indoor Tracksters Qualify for ECAC Championships

Providence, RI—Five members of the Rhode Island College men’s indoor track and field team have qualified for the 2003 ECAC Div. III Championships, which will be held at Tufts University on Friday and Saturday, Mar. 7-8.

Freshman Emmanuel Karngar (Providence, RI) has qualified in the 800 meters and as part of the distance medley relay team. He earned All-New England honors in the 800 meters, placing first with a time of 1:53.96 and breaking his own school record in that event, at the New England Div. III Championships on Feb. 22. Karngar also earned All-New England honors as part of the distance medley relay team, which placed second with a time of 10:30.54. Karngar earned All-Alliance/Little East honors in the 400 and 800 meters at the 2003 Alliance Championships on Feb. 15.

Junior Tim Rudd (Warwick, RI) along with sophomores Joe Parenteau (Smithfield, RI) and Josh Precourt (Woonsocket, RI) have also qualified as part of the distance medley relay team. The three earned All-New England honors as part of the distance medley relay team, which placed second with a time of 10:30.54 at the New England Div. III Championships on Feb. 22.

Sophomore Marc Piette (Woonsocket, RI) has qualified in the weight throw. Piette earned All-Alliance/Little East honors in the weight throw, placing first with a distance of 49’04.50” at the 2003 Alliance Championships on Feb. 15.
