RIC SWEEPS DOUBLEHEADER FROM SALVE REGINA

Providence, RI—Rhode
Island College swept a doubleheader from Salve Regina, 4-1 and 16-0,
to improve to 6-5 on the season. It was the Anchorwomen’s third
straight victory. The loss drops the Seahawks to 4-7-1 overall. |

Kim Warrington
(5-3) fired a no-hitter and struck out 11 batters to lead RIC to a 4-1
victory in game one. Caitlin Schimmel and Ashley
Brooks each went 2-3 with an RBI to pace the Anchorwomen’s
offense. Ali Morrissey (0-2) took the loss for Salve Regina. |

Casey Soares
(1-1) allowed a mere two hits as RIC defeated SRU 16-0 in game two.
Laura Papa came on in the fifth to record the final two outs in
the win. RIC broke the game open in the second inning, exploding for
11 runs. Hollie Benevides went 2-3 with four RBI.
Morrissey (0-3) was saddled with her third loss for SRU. |
