Bob Nannig
Named Interim
Head Women’s Gymnastics Coach |

Providence, RI—Bob
Nannig has been named the
interim head women’s gymnastics coach at Rhode Island College.
Nannig take over for former head coach Nikki Pannone who
stepped down earlier this month for personal reasons. He served as
Pannone’s assistant coach during the 2002-03 season. |

|
"I am excited about
the position at Rhode Island College," Nannig says. "I am
familiar with the team and we are looking forward to a successful
season in 2003-04." |

|
Prior to joining the
Anchorwomen, Nannig
served as the Director of Boys’ Gymnastics at Aim High Academy in
East Greenwich. He has extensive experience in camp coaching, first
at the Woodward Camp in Pennsylvania and at URI’s summer
gymnastics camp, having worked there from 1995-2001. Nannig also
served as the owner and head coach of the North Kingstown Gymnastics
Center from 1982-87. He previously served as the gymnastics coach at
Kingston Dance & Gymnastics from 1981-1982. |

Nannig received a
bachelor’s degree in physical education from Springfield College
in 1981. While at Springfield, he lettered in gymnastics from
1977-80. He earned a master’s degree in physical education
administration from the University of Rhode Island in 1999. |
|
|
|
He also works as a
physical education teacher at Cranston High School West and has
taught in the school system for 13 years. He was honored as the
R.I.A.H.P.E.R.D. Secondary Education Teacher of the Year in 2002. |

Nannig lives in North
Kingstown, Rhode Island with his wife, JoAnn, and their two
daughters, Haley (10) and Jade (15). |
