College Defeat Anchormen |

Providence, RI— The
Connecticut College Camels defeated the Rhode Island College
Anchormen, 3-2, on Thursday, Sept. 18 at RIC. Camel junior
midfielder Tim Walker (Storrs, CT) scored the game-winning
goal with 20:29 left in the game to give Connecticut College its
first victory of the season. |

Connecticut College
jumped out to an early 1-0 lead as sophomore midfielder Robert
Sulzer (Nantucket, MA) scored 11:29 into the game. RIC answered
in the second half with goals by sophomore midfielder Joe
Mackinnon (Exeter, RI) and sophomore forward Kyle Teixeria
(Warren, RI) to put the Anchormen in the lead, 2-1. Freshman
midfielder Nic Rossi (North Kingstown, RI) assisted on both
Anchormen goals. The Camels, however, got two goals by Walker to tie
RIC and then later take the lead and the game. |

Gaining the victory in
net for Connecticut College was junior Jon Knights (Nashua, NH)
who made three saves on the afternoon. Freshman Kyle Amaral
(Seekonk, MA) was between the posts for RIC and stopped seven
shots. With the victory, the Camels improve their record to 1-2
while the Anchormen drop to 3-2. |
