WARRIORS EARN FIRST CONFERENCE WIN |

|
Providence, RI— Eastern
Connecticut State University evened its overall record at 3-3 and
improved to 1-0 in the Little East Conference with a, 2-1, win over
Rhode Island College. The loss drops the Anchorwomen to 3-4 overall

ECSU sophomore midfielder
Meghann Booth (Windsor Locks, CT) and junior forward Jen
Ferrari (Coventry, RI) were the offensive story for the
Warriors. Booth opened the day’s scoring, converting a Ferrari
pass to put ECSU up, 1-0, in the 24th minute. RIC
answered right back with freshman forward Erika Haaland (North
Dartmouth, MA) chipping in a goal off of senior midfielder Hollie
Benevides’ (Rehoboth, MA) throw-in during the 28th
minute. |

The two squads traded
scoring chances in the second half, but neither team could convert
until Ferrari netted the game-winner on a crossing pass from Booth
in the 76th minute. Warrior’s senior netminder Stacey
Schofield (Woodstock, CT) made three saves to earn the victory,
while junior Melissa Carpentier (Woonsocket, RI) made seven
stops in a losing effort for RIC. |
