Connecticut College Gets By
Anchorwomen, 3-2
|

Providence, RI—Connecticut
College defeated Rhode Island College, 3-2 (30-20, 27-30, 30-22,
16-30, 15-13), on Oct. 14. The Camels won games one and three as the
Anchorwomen were victorious in games two and four to force a deciding
game five. In the final game, each team never had more than a
two-point lead. The Camels, however, were able to take the lead when
it mattered and held on for the win. The victory improves Connecticut
College’s record to 6-11 while RIC now falls to 10-11. |

RIC was led
by freshman middle hitter Erin Miga (Cranston, RI) who posted a
match-high 18 kills. Miga also contributed one dig and three blocks.
Senior middle hitter Erika Poirier (Woonsocket, RI) was the only other
Anchorwoman with double-figure kill numbers. She recorded 15 kills,
three service aces, five digs and one block. Defensively, sophomore
libero Sara Chamberland (Coventry, RI) had 19 digs, while
freshman middle hitter Kari Geisler (Derry, NH) and
freshman setter Kara Sarcione (Londonderry, NH) added 15 digs
each. |

Leading the
way for Connecticut College was senior outside hitter Kelly Hart
(Cumberland, RI) who had a team-high 16 kills. Sophomore
setter Molly Kawachi (New York, NY) recorded a team-high 34
assists. |

In upcoming
action, the Anchorwomen will travel to Salve Regina on Saturday, Oct.
18 at 1 p.m. |
