|
Providence, RI— The
Rhode Island College Anchorwomen were defeated, 3-1, at home by the

After a 1-1 tie in the first half, WCSU picked up one goal each from

Bartholomew (Bethel, CT) all she would need and the Colonials a
victory. |

Both teams scored in the
first half. Western Connecticut drew first blood on Gillis’ first
of two goals in the game in the 15th minute. RIC answered
back in the 37th minute as junior forward Alexis
Bouchard (Warren, RI) controlled a ball that was bouncing around
in front of the goalkeeper and put it in the net. Western
Connecticut would pull away in the second half as the Colonials took
the lead as Corbin scored in the 66th minute. Western
Connecticut put away the Anchorwomen in the 89th minute
with Gillis’ second goal, which came off a corner kick from
Corbin. |
