Rhode Island College lost a close game, 1-0, to second-seeded Eastern
Connecticut State University in the semi-final round of the 2003
Little East Conference Women’s Soccer Tournament. |

ESCU junior midfielder
Megan Taylor (Manchester, CT) scored in the 16th minute
and that would be all the Warriors would need to secure the victory.
Senior goalkeeper Stacey Schofield (Woodstock, CT) made two
saves to earn the shutout. |

RIC junior goalkeeper
Melissa Carpentier (Woonsocket, RI) made four saves in a losing
effort. |

The Anchorwomen end the ’03
campaign with a 7-12-1 overall record. RIC won in the first round of
the tourney, defeating Plymouth State, 3-1, on Nov. 4. The Warriors,
who are 10-6-1, advance to the Championship Game of the tournament and
will face the winner of fourth-seeded Western Connecticut vs.
top-seeded Keene State. |
