Caitlin Gavin Earns National Women’s Lacrosse Rookie of the Week Honor

Providence, RI—Rhode Island College freshman Caitlin Gavin (Portsmouth, RI) was named the www.womenslacrosse.com Rookie of the Week on Mar., 29 for her performance during last week. Womenslacrosse.com is a national website dedicated to women’s lacrosse at all levels.

Last week, Gavin scored five goals and grabbed eight ground balls in an, 11-10 double-overtime, victory over Lasell on Mar. 25 then put six more balls in the net and collected 10 ground balls in a, 12-4, victory over Worcester State on Mar. 27. On the season, Gavin has a team-high 17 points, 17 goals, 36 shots on goal and 22 ground balls.

She is a 2003 graduate of Portsmouth High School.

Head Coach Ryan Angel’s team is currently 3-1 overall and has yet to face a Little East Conference opponent. RIC has currently won three consecutive games, which is a new school-record. The Anchorwomen are back in action on Tuesday, Apr. 6 as they travel to UMass-Dartmouth for a 4 p.m contest.
