Four Earn All-New England Honors
in Men's Outdoor Track and Field
|
|
|
|
Providence, RI--Five
members of Head Coach Kevin Jackson's men's and women's outdoor
track and field team competed at the New England Div. III
Championships, hosted by Williams College, on Saturday, May 1. The
Anchormen placed 20th out of 25 teams with a team score of 12.0.
Williams won the event with a team score of 142.50 |

Sophomore
Manny Karngar (Providence,
RI)
earned All-New England honors in the 800 meters, placing third with a
time of 1:55.24. He earned All-Alliance/Little East honors in three
events at the LEC/MASCAC Alliance Championships on Apr. 24. He
finished first in the 800 meters with a time of 1:54.82, second in the
400 meters with a time of 49.50 and fourth as a part of the 4x400
meter relay team with a time of 3:29.35. |

Sophomore
Nick Palazzo (Providence,
RI)
earned All-New England honors in the hammer throw, placing sixth with
a throw of 167'02". He earned All-Alliance/Little East honors by
placing second in the hammer throw with a distance of 164’03’’ at the
LEC/MASCAC Alliance Championships on Apr. 24. |

Marc Piette (Woonsocket,
RI)
earned
All-New England honors in the hammer throw, placing eighth with a
throw of 164'08". He earned All-Alliance/Little East honors by placing
first in the hammer throw with a distance of 171’07’’ at the LEC/MASCAC
Alliance Championships on Apr. 24. He also placed 15th in
the shot with a distance of 35’06.50’’ at the Alliance Championships.

Dan Newman (Smithfield,
RI)
earned
All-New England honors in the high jump, placing seventh with a leap
of 6'02". He earned All-Alliance/Little East honors as a member of the
4x100 meter relay team by placing eighth with a time of 46.30 and in
the high jump by placing fourth with a height of 6’01.50’’ at the LEC/MASCAC
Alliance Championships on Apr. 24. |

Junior
Josh Precourt (Woonsocket, RI)
placed 19th
in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 58.04. He earned
All-Alliance/Little East honors in four events at the LEC/MASCAC
Alliance Championships on Apr. 24. He placed seventh in the 400 meters
with a time of 52.81, fifth in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of
57.11, eighth as a part of the 4x100 meter relay team with a time of
46.30 and fourth as a part of the 4x400 meter relay team with a time
of 3:29.35. |

In upcoming
action, the Anchormen will have several competitors compete at the New
England Open Championships, which will be hosted by Northeastern
University on Friday and Saturday, May 7-8. The remainder of the team
will compete at the University of Albany Invitational on Saturday, May
8. |
