McCalligett and Skorupa Earn All-New England Honors
|
|
Providence, RI--Two
members of Head Coach Kevin Jackson's women's outdoor track and
field team competed at the New England Div. III Championships, hosted
by Springfield College on Saturday, May 1. The Anchorwomen placed 15th
out of 28 teams with a team score of 11.0. Williams won the meet with
a team score of 180. |

Junior
Kate McCalligett (Warwick,
RI)
earned All-New England honors in the 400 meters, placing fourth with a
time of 1:00.65. She also placed ninth in the 200 meters with a time
of 27.06. McCalligett earned All-Alliance/Little East honors in four
events at the LEC/MASCAC Alliance Championships on Apr. 24. She
finished second in the 200 meters with a time of 26.05, third in the
400 meters with a time of 59.54, fourth as a part of the 4x100 meter
relay team with a time of 51.20 and third as a member of the 4x400
meter relay team with a time of 4:24.63. |

Sophomore
Dana Skorupa (Cumberland,
RI)
earned
All-New England honors in the 100 meter dash, placing fifth with a
time of 13.09. Skorupa earned All-Alliance/Little East honors in five
events and was named the Little East Conference's Female Runner of the
Week for her performance at the LEC/MASCAC Alliance Championships on
Apr. 24. She placed first in the 200 meters with a time of 25.72,
second in 100 meters with a time of 12.51, fourth as a part of the
4x100 meter relay team with a time of 51.20, third as a member of the
4x400 meter relay team with a time of 4:24.63 and fourth in the long
jump with a distance of 16’04.25’’. |

In upcoming
action, the Anchorwomen will have several competitors compete at the
New England Open Championships, which will be hosted by Northeastern
University on Friday and Saturday, May 7-8. The remainder of the team
will compete at the University of Albany Invitational on Saturday, May
8. |
