RIC's Kristyn Alexander Named
Little East Softball Rookie of the Year

Softball Players Earn All-LEC Distinction |

Providence, RI—Rhode
Island College freshman designated player Kristyn Alexander (East
Wareham, MA) was named the Little East Conference Softball Rookie
of the Year. Alexander also earned First Team All-Little East
Conference honors as a designated player. |
|
|
|
Alexander
played in 36 games, starting all of them. She is batting a team-best
.348 with a team-high 40 hits, five doubles and 20 RBI. Alexander also
has eight walks, 12 runs scored, a .391 slugging percentage, a .384
on-base percentage and a .962 fielding percentage. |
|
|
|
Sophomore
Megan Ponte (Wakefield,
RI)
was named
First Team All-Little East Conference as an outfielder. Ponte has
played in 36 games, starting 35 of them. She is batting .301 with 34
hits, three doubles, a team-high three triples, ten walks, 21 runs
scored and 11 RBI. Ponte owns a .381 slugging percentage, a .358
on-base percentage and a .895 fielding percentage. |

Senior
outfielder Sue Gaber (Colchester,
CT)
was named
Second Team All-Little East Conference as an outfielder for the third
consecutive season. Gaber has played in 36 games, starting all
of them. She is batting .281 with 36 hits, four doubles, eight walks,
21 runs scored and six RBI. Gaber has a .313 slugging percentage, a
.321 on-base percentage and a .935 fielding percentage. |

Senior
Kim Warrington (North
Kingstown, RI)
was named
Second Team All-Little East Conference as a pitcher for the fourth
consecutive season. Warrington has appeared in 26 games, starting 18
of them. She owns an 11-7 record with a 2.04 ERA. In 137.0 innings
pitched, she has struck out a team-high 169 batters. She is RIC's
all-time leader in wins and strikeouts. |

|
The
Anchorwomen are currently 21-14-1 overall and finished the regular
season with a 9-5 (second place) mark in the Little East Conference.
They are the sixth seed in the 2004 New England ECAC Div. III
Tournament and will play at Coast Guard on Wednesday, May 5. |
