Providence, RI—Rhode Island College stunned Plymouth State
University, the 29th-ranked team in the country (Div. III),
78-72, in a battle of Little East Conference rivals at The Murray
Center. |

The
Anchormen, who trailed by as many as 11 points in the first half,
clawed their way back, on the strength of junior forward Jason
Harris’ (Bedford, MA) 15 points and 12 rebounds to earn the
victory. RIC also got a huge performance from senior guard Kamran
Alemdar (Stockholm, Sweden) who scored a game-high 17 points.
Freshman guard Kamari Williams (Springfield, MA) chipped in
with 12 points, four boards, five assists and a steal. |

The
Panthers were led by junior guard Nick Pelotte (Bingham, ME)
who had 16 points, five boards and two assists. Freshman forward
Andreas Pope (Brooklyn, NY) had 14 points and nine boards. |

RIC
snaps a three-game losing skid to improve to 6-10 overall and 3-3 in
the Little East. The Panthers fall to 13-3 overall and 4-3 on the
season. |

In
upcoming action, both teams will square off again at Plymouth State on
Saturday, Jan. 24 at 3 p.m. in what should be an exciting re-match. |
