Rhode Island College’s Kamari Williams
Named Little East Conference
Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Year

 Providence, RI—Rhode Island College freshman guard Kamari Williams (Springfield, MA) was named the Little East Conference Men's Basketball Rookie of the Year for his performance this winter.

 

Williams played in 26 games, starting 12 of them. He was second on the squad in scoring, averaging 11.3 points per game, while also contributing a team-high 94 assists and 46 steals. Williams finished third in the LEC in free-throw percentage, fourth in assists per game and seventh in steals per contest. In 14 conference games, he averaged 10.7 points and a team-high 3.4 steals per contest. Williams scored in double-figures 17 times this winter, including three 20-plus point performances and a team season-high 27-point performance versus Wheaton on Nov. 22. He was named the conference's Rookie of the Week five times on the season.

 

He is a business major and a 2002 graduate of Cathedral High School.

 

Head Coach Michael Kelly’s team finished the season with an 11-15 overall record and a 7-7 mark in the Little East Conference, which was good for fifth place.
