Four
Rhode Island College Tracksters Set To Compete at ECAC Div. III
Championships
|
|
Providence, RI--Four
members of the Rhode Island College men's and women's track and field
teams will compete at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC)
Championships, which will be hosted by Bowdoin College on Friday and
Saturday, Mar. 5-6. |

|
Sophomore
Manny Karngar (Providence,
RI)
will
compete in the 800 meters. Karngar earned All-New England honors in
two events at the N.E. Div. III Championships on Feb. 21. Karngar
placed second in the 800 meters with a time of 1:54.50 and eighth as
part of the 4x400 meter relay team with a time of 3:28.14. He earned
All-Alliance/Little East honors in four events at the Alliance/Little
East Championships on Feb. 14. Karngar placed third in the 200 meters
with a time of 23.27, first in the 400 meters with a time of 50.35,
first in the 800 meters with a time of 1:59.22 and first as part of
the 4x400 meter relay team with a time of 3:32.97. |

Senior
Tim Rudd (Warwick,
RI)
will compete in both the 600 and 800 meters. Rudd competed at the N.E.
Open Championships on Feb. 29, posting a time of 1:54.50 in the
preliminary round of the 800 meters. He earned All-New England honors
in two events at the N.E. Div. III Championships on Feb. 21. Rudd
placed seventh in the 800 meters with a time of 1:57.47 and eighth as
part of the 4x400 meter relay team with a time of 3:28.14. He earned
All-Alliance/Little East honors in four events at the Alliance/Little
East Championships on Feb. 14. Rudd placed second in the 600 meters
with a time of 1:24.52, second in the 1,000 meters with a time of
2:36.77 and first in both the 4x400 and 4x800 meter relay with times
of 3:32.97 and 8:27.78, respectively. |

For the
women's team, sophomore Dana Skorupa (Cumberland,
RI)
will
compete in the 55 and 200 meters. Skorupa tied for 13th in the 55
meters, one of only two Div. III competitors in the finals, with a
time of 7.55 at the N.E. Open Championships on Feb. 29. She also
posted a time of 26.28 in the preliminary round of the 200 meters.
Skorupa earned All-New England honors in two events at the N.E. Div.
III Championships on Feb. 21. She placed fourth in both the 55 meters
and 200 meters with times of 7.40 and 26.45, respectively. For her
efforts, she was named the Little East Conference's Women's Track
Athlete of the Week for the third time this season. Skorupa earned
All-Alliance/Little East honors in three events at the Alliance/Little
East Championships on Feb. 14. She placed third in the 55 meters,
first in the 200 meters and first in the 400 meters with times of
7.53, 26.58 and 1:00.70, respectively. |

Junior
Kate McCalligett (Warwick,
RI)
will compete in the 400 meters. McCalligett posted a time of 1:00.40
in the preliminary round of the 400 meters at the N.E. Open
Championships on Feb. 29. McCalligett earned All-New England honors in
one event at the N.E. Div. III Championships on Feb. 21. She placed
sixth in the 400 meters with a time of 1:00.30. |
