Babat,
Beaudry and Wells to Captain
Rhode Island College Women’s Lacrosse |
|
|
Providence, RI—Rhode Island
College juniors Erika Babat (North Kingstown, RI)
and Danielle Beaudry (West
Greenwich, RI), along with senior
Kim Wells (Granby, CT), will
captain the women’s lacrosse team for the 2004 season.
|
|
|
|
Last season,
Babat was named the team’s MVP. She played in nine games, starting all
of them. Babat had 28 ground balls, three pass interceptions and 13
draw controls. She ranks first all-time at RIC with 61 career ground
balls and third with four career pass interceptions |
|
|
|
She is an
elementary education major with a concentration in special education
and a 2001 graduate of North Kingstown High School. |
|
|
|
Last spring,
Beaudry played in 13 games, starting all of them. She had 15 goals and
six assists for 21 points, 24 ground balls, one pass interception, two
caused turnovers and 22 draw controls. She is the school’s all-time
assist leader with 10 career helpers, ranks third in points with 30
and is fourth in goals with 20. |

She is an

Wells played in
12 games, starting 11 of them last season. The captain had two goals
for two points, seven ground balls and four draw controls. |
|
|
|
She is a
political science major with a minor in communications and a 2000
graduate of Granby High School. |
|
|
|
Head Coach
Ryan Angel’s team is currently trying to dodge the snowflakes and
are hoping to open the season at Curry College on Tuesday, March 23 at
4 p.m. |
