Rhode Island College Women’s Tennis Update #5 |

(8-0 Overall; 4-0 in the Little East Conference) |

Providence, RI--Head
Coach Kelly Chartier’s continued to roll through the opposition
this week as the Anchorwomen improved to 8-0 overall and 4-0 in the
Little East Conference. RIC played two matches, sneaking by Roger
Williams, 5-4, in Bristol on Sept. 30 and defeating LEC rival Plymouth
State, 7-2, in Plymouth on Oct. 1. |

RIC is currently in the midst of a 13-match winning streak against
Little East Conference opposition. The Anchorwomen are 4-0 this year,
were a perfect 5-0 last year and won four straight after dropping the
conference opener vs. Plymouth State back on Sept. 14, 2002. |

|
Junior captain Liz Barrette (North Providence, RI) is 5-3
(.625) at number one singles and 3-5 (.375) at number one doubles for
6.5 points on the season. Barrette posted a 2-0 record at both number
one singles and doubles in a 2-0 week for the Anchorwomen. |

|
Senior captain Meghan Mooney (North Scituate, RI) is 5-3 (.625)
at number two singles and 3-4 (.429) at number one doubles for 6.5
points on the season. Mooney was 2-0 at both number two singles and
number one doubles in a 2-0 week for the Anchorwomen. She has been
named the LEC’s Player of the Week once this season. |

Sophomore Audrey Davis (Stroudsburg,
PA)
is 7-0 (1.000) at number three singles and is 5-2 (.714) at number two
doubles for a team-high 9.5 points on the season. Davis was 2-0 at
number three singles in a 2-0 week for the Anchorwomen. She has been
named the LEC’s Rookie of the Week twice this season. |

Freshman Kseniya Gurvich (Barrington,
RI)
is 6-1 (.750) at number four singles and 2-0 (1.000) in doubles for
7.0 points on the season. Gurvich has been named the LEC’s Rookie of
the Week once this season. |

Senior captain Samantha Hedden (Rumford,
RI)
is 4-2 (.667) in singles and 0-1 in doubles for 4.0 points on the
season. |

Sophomore Caitlin Morin (Westerly,
RI)
is 2-2 (.500) in singles and 5-2 (.714) at number two doubles for 4.5
points on the season. |

Sophomore Tara Marchant (North
Scituate, RI)
is 2-1 in singles (.667) and is 7-1 at number three doubles for 5.5
points on the season. |

Freshman Michaela Grant (Smithfield,
RI)
is 1-0 (1.000) in singles and 6-1 (.857) at number three doubles for
4.0 points on the season. |

Freshman Ashley Barry (Bristol,
RI)
is 1-0 (1.000) in singles and 1-0 (1.000) in doubles for 1.5 points on
the season. |

|
RIC is entering perhaps its toughest stretch of matches this week as
the Anchorwomen will play four times in six days. Two of the matches
are against Little East opposition. RIC will host all four of the
matches as they will face Wentworth this afternoon at 4 p.m., LEC
rival Bridgewater State on Tuesday, Oct. 5 at 3:30 p.m., Clark on
Thursday, Oct. 7 at 3:30 p.m. and LEC foe UMass-Dartmouth on Saturday,
Oct. 9. |
