Rhode Island College Softball Update #1

(4-6 Overall; 0-0 in the Little East)

Providence, RI--Head Coach Maria Morin’s team is 4-6 overall and has yet to play a Little East Conference game. The squad’s first two games took place at Whittier College (CA), while the next eight games took place from March 13-18 at the Sun West Classic in Orange, CA. RIC is yet to play a game since returning from the west coast.

Senior third baseman Amy Machado (Newport, RI) has played in nine games, starting eight of them. She is batting .286 with eight hits, two doubles, one run scored and three RBI. Machado owns a .357 slugging percentage, a .286 on-base percentage and a .893 fielding percentage.

Junior outfielder Katie Benevides (North Dighton, MA) has played in nine games, starting all of them. She is batting .188 with three hits and one walk. Benevides owns a .188 slugging percentage, a .235 on base percentage and a 1.000 fielding percentage.

Junior shortstop/outfielder Adora Burke (Naples, ME) has played in nine games, starting six of them. She is batting a team-high .429 with six hits, two doubles, one walk, one run scored and three RBI. Burke owns a team-high .571 slugging percentage and a .467 on base percentage along with a .813 fielding percentage.

Junior outfielder Megan Ponte (Wakefield, RI) has played in seven games, starting six of them. She is batting .286 with four hits, one walk and three runs scored. Ponte owns a .286 slugging percentage, a .412 on-base percentage and a .800 fielding percentage.

Junior outfielder Andree Sitnik (Lincoln, RI) has played in nine games, starting four of them. She is batting .333 with two hits and one run scored. Sitnik owns a .333 slugging percentage, a .333 on-base percentage and a .667 fielding percentage.

Sophomore catcher/designated player Kristyn Alexander (East Wareham, MA) has played in ten games, starting eight of them. She is batting .261 with six hits, one double, two walks, two runs scored and one RBI. Alexander owns a .304 slugging percentage, a .320 on-base percentage and a .900 fielding percentage.

Sophomore pitcher Nicole Riley (North Providence, RI) has appeared in six games, starting four of them. She owns a 2-3 record with a 1.96 ERA. In 25.0 innings pitched, she has struck out 16 batters.

Sophomore infielder Crystal O’Connell (Somerset, MA) has played in five games, starting four of them. She is batting .143 with one hit and one walk. O’Connell owns a .143 slugging percentage, a .250 on-base percentage and a 1.000 fielding percentage.

Sophomore infielder Katelyn Labelle (South Dartmouth, MA) has played in seven games, starting five of them. She is batting .111 with one hit, one walk and one RBI. Labelle owns a .111 slugging percentage, a .200 on-base percentage and a .897 fielding percentage.

Sophomore outfielder Casie Lyons (Hudson, MA) has played in nine games, starting four of them. She is batting .143 with two hits, one walk and three runs scored. Lyons owns a .143 slugging percentage, a .200 on-base percentage and a .957 fielding percentage.

Freshman catcher Krystal Bilek (Fitchburg, MA) has played in six games, starting five of them. She is batting .389 with seven hits, one home run, one walk, two runs scored and a team-high seven RBI. Bilek owns a .556 slugging percentage, a .450 on base percentage and a 1.000 fielding percentage.

Freshman first baseman Christie Lotti (Waterford, CT) has played in ten games, starting nine of them. She is batting .345 with a team-high ten hits and four runs scored and three walks along with one home run and one RBI. Lotti owns a .552 slugging percentage, a .406 on base percentage and a .979 fielding percentage.

Freshman catcher/infielder Jeanne Rosa (Milford, CT) has played in ten games, starting seven of them. She is batting .300 with six hits, two doubles, three RBI and two runs scored. Rosa owns a .400 slugging percentage, a .333 on base percentage and a 1.000 fielding percentage.

Freshman catcher/third baseman Jill DeLuca (West Warwick, RI) has played in nine games, starting five of them. She is batting .222 with four hits, one home run, three runs scored and three RBI. DeLuca owns a .389 slugging percentage, a .263 on base percentage and a .800 fielding percentage.

Freshman pitcher/infielder Katie Sayball (Milford, CT) has played in eight games, starting four of them. She is batting .167 with two hits. Sayball owns a .167 slugging percentage, a .167 on base percentage and a .952 fielding percentage. On the mound, she has appeared in nine games, starting one of them. She owns a 0-0 record with a 2.58 ERA. In 21.2 innings pitched, she has struck out 11 batters.

Freshman designated player Kayla Baranski (Cumberland, RI) has played in six games, starting two of them. She is batting .222 with two hits. Baranski owns a .222 slugging percentage and a .222 on base percentage.

Freshman outfielder Amy Huston (Wakefield, RI) has played in three games. She has one walk and one run scored. Huston owns a .000 slugging percentage, a .500 on base percentage and a 1.000 fielding percentage.

Freshman second baseman/shortstop Katie Chadwick (Wakefield, RI) has played in three games, starting two of them.

In upcoming action, the Anchorwomen are scheduled to play two games this week, both of which are double-headers. RIC will travel to Worcester State on Wednesday, March 30 at 4 p.m., then will open up LEC play at home against Southern Maine on Saturday, Apr. 2 at 1 p.m.
