Chris Higgins Named Little East Baseball Player of the Week
|
|
Providence,
RI—Rhode
Island College senior left fielder Chris Higgins (Swansea,
MA)
was named the Little East Conference Baseball Player of the Week.
|
|
|
|
Higgins
batted .750 (6-8) to help lead
RIC to a 2-0 record last week. He totaled one home run, two doubles,
three runs scored and seven RBI. In an 18-4 victory over Coast Guard,
Higgins went 4-for-5 with three runs scored, five RBI and one home
run. He finished off the week with a 2-for-3 afternoon at the plate in
a 6-2 win over Salem State. |

For the season,
Higgins has played in 11 games, starting all of them. He is batting a
.333 with 13 hits, one home run, two doubles, eight RBI and five runs
scored. Higgins owns a .372 on-base percentage, a .462 slugging
percentage and a .909 fielding percentage. |

He is a physical
education major and a 2000 graduate of Joseph Case High School. |

Head Coach
Jay Grenier's team is 6-5 overall and has yet to play a Little
East Conference game. The Anchormen played two games last week,
winning both of them. RIC went on the road on Tuesday, Mar. 29 and
took an, 18-4, decision over Coast Guard. The Anchormen then played
their first home game of the season on Thursday, Mar. 31 and defeated
Salem State, 6-2. |
