Amy Machado Named Little East Player of the Week
|

RI—Rhode
Island College senior third baseman Amy Machado (Newport,
RI)
was
named the Little East Conference Softball Player of the Week for her
performance in eight games last week. |
|
|
|
Machado went
11-for-23 (.407) with two doubles, two triples, six runs scored and
eight RBI to help lead the Anchorwomen to a 5-3 week. For the season,
she has played in 17 games, starting 16 of them. She is batting .345
with 19 hits, five doubles, two triples, seven runs scored and 11 RBI.
Machado owns a .509 slugging percentage, a .351 on-base percentage and
a .889 fielding percentage. |

She is a
physical education major and a 2001 graduate of Rogers High School. |

Head Coach
Maria Morin’s team is 9-9 overall and 2-0 in the Little East
Conference. The Anchorwomen played four doubleheaders last week, going
5-3. RIC split two games at Bridgewater State on Tuesday, Apr. 5 (4-7,
9-1), before getting swept by nationally ranked Wheaton College (0-5,
0-12) at home on Wednesday, Apr. 6. The Anchorwomen then went on to
win their final four games of the week. RIC took two from Johnson &
Wales (8-1, 8-0) on Thursday, Apr. 7. The Anchorwomen opened up Little
East play at Keene State on Saturday, Apr. 9 and swept the Owls (3-2
in nine innings, 10-4). |
