Rhode Island College Men’s Tennis Update #3

(3-7 Overall; 1-2 in the Little East)

Providence, RI--Head Coach Joe Testa’s team is 3-7 overall and 1-2 in the Little East Conference. RIC went 1-2 last week. The Anchormen shut out Becker, 9-0, to open the week’s action on Thursday, Apr. 14. RIC then lost back-to-back Little East contests, falling to Southern Maine, 6-3, on Sudday, Apr. 17 and to Western Connecticut, 5-4, on Apr. 17.

Senior co-captain Julio Andrade (Cranston, RI) is 8-2 (.800) at number three singles and 4-6 (.400) at number one doubles for a team-high 10.0 points on the season. He went 3-0 at number three singles and 2-1 at number one doubles last week. Andrade was undefeated last week in LEC singles action.

Junior Barry Manfredi (Westerly, RI) is 6-4 (.600) at number one singles and 4-6 (.400) at number one doubles for 8.0 points on the season. Manfredi went 2-1 at both number one singles and doubles last week.

Junior Elliott LeFaiver (Warwick, RI) is 2-7 (.222) at number two singles and 3-7 (.300) at number two doubles for 3.5 points on the season.

Sophomore Tom Lapierre (Pascoag, RI) is 2-7 (.222) at number four singles and 3-7 (.300) at number two doubles for 3.5 points on the season.

Junior Chris Furey (Cabot, VT) is 1-6 (.143) at number five singles and 5-5 (.500) at number three doubles for 3.5 points on the season.

Junior co-captain Jason LaDuke (Warren, RI) is 5-5 (.500) at number three doubles for 2.5 points on the season.

Sophomore Richard Truchon (North Scituate, RI) is 1-8 (.111) at number six singles for 1.0 point on the season.

Sophomore Tauquir Puthawala (Lincoln, RI) is 2-0 (1.000) in singles for 2.0 points on the season.

Freshman Lorne Teeter (Warwick, RI) is 3-1 (.750) in singles for 3.0 points on the season.

In upcoming action, the Anchormen will play at Newbury on Tuesday, Apr. 19, at UMass Dartmouth on Thursday, Apr. 21 and at UMass Boston on Saturday, Apr. 23.
