Providence, RI--Head
Coach Maria Morin’s team is 18-12 overall and 7-1 in the Little
East Conference. The Anchorwomen had four doubleheaders scheduled last
week, however two of them were postponed due to inclement weather. RIC
went 4-0 on the week, taking two games from LEC rival UMass Dartmouth
(5-0, 8-3) on Tuesday, Apr. 19, before going on the road and sweeping
Westfield State (3-0, 6-0) on Thursday, Apr. 21. |

Sophomore pitcher Nicole Riley (North
Providence, RI)
has played in 17 games, starting 13 of them. She is batting .200 with
seven hits, one triple, seven walks, one stolen base six runs scored
and four RBI. Riley owns a .257 slugging percentage, a .333 on base
percentage and a .880 fielding percentage. On the mound, she has
appeared in 18 games, starting 12 of them. She owns an 8-4 record with
one save. She has a team-best 2.03 ERA and has pitched four complete
games. In a team-high 82.2 innings pitched, she has struck out a
team-high 77 batters. |

Freshman first baseman Christie Lotti (Waterford,
CT)
has played in 29 games, starting 28 of them. She is batting a
team-high .418 with a team-high 38 hits, 25 runs scored, 11 walks,
four triples and three home runs along with six doubles and 13 RBI.
Lotti owns a .670 slugging percentage, a .480 on base percentage and a
.975 fielding percentage. She has named the Little East Rookie of the
Week once on the season. |

Freshman pitcher Heidi Eichler (Madison,
CT)
has played in nine games, starting six of them. She is batting .273
with three hits, one double, one walk and two runs scored. Eichler
owns a .364 slugging percentage, a .333 on base percentage and a .958
fielding percentage. On the mound, she has appeared in 18 games,
starting 15 of them. She owns a 9-7 record and a save with a 2.28 ERA
and has eight complete games. In 80.0 innings pitched, she has struck
out 76 batters. |

Senior third baseman Amy Machado (Newport,
RI)
has played in 29 games, starting 28 of them. She is batting .315 with
29 hits, nine doubles, two triples, ten runs scored and a team-high 16
RBI. Machado owns a .457 slugging percentage, a .340 on-base
percentage and a .920 fielding percentage. |

Junior outfielder Katie Benevides (North
Dighton, MA)
has played in 27 games, starting all of them. She is batting .243 with
17 hits, one double, two stolen bases, eight runs scored, six RBI and
two walks. Benevides owns a .257 slugging percentage, a .284 on base
percentage and a .972 fielding percentage. Benevides had four RBI in
RIC’s wins over UMass Dartmouth on Apr. 19. |

Sophomore shortstop/outfielder Adora Burke (Naples,
ME)
has played in 27 games, starting 22 of them. She is batting .323 with
20 hits, three doubles, one triple, nine walks, ten runs scored and
eight RBI. Burke owns a .403 slugging percentage and a .408 on base
percentage along with a .892 fielding percentage. |

Junior outfielder Megan Ponte (Wakefield,
RI)
has played in 25 games, starting 24 of them. She is batting .241 with
14 hits, one triple, one home run, three walks, one stolen base, nine
runs scored and three RBI. Ponte owns a .328 slugging percentage, a
.313 on-base percentage and a .963 fielding percentage. |

has played in 22 games, starting 15 of them. She is batting .219 with

percentage and a 1.000 fielding percentage. |

In upcoming action, the Anchorwomen are scheduled to play three
doubleheaders this week, and possibly a fourth. RIC will open up the
week on the road against non-conference opponent Worcester State on
Wednesday, Apr. 27 at 3:30 p.m. The Anchorwomen will then host LEC foe
Plymouth State on Friday, Apr. 29 at 3:30 p.m., before hosting LEC
rival Eastern Connecticut on Saturday, Apr. 30 at 1 p.m. The
Anchorwomen will make-up last Sunday’s rainout against Western
Connecticut at a date and time to be determined. |
