Christie Lotti Named ECAC Div. III Softball Player of the Week |
|
Providence, RI—Rhode
Island College freshman first baseman Christie Lotti (Waterford,
CT)
was named the ECAC Div. III Softball Player of the Week for New
England. Lotti was also named the Little East Conference Softball
Player of the Week. |

|
Lotti went 8-for-13 for a .615 average with one homer, two triples,
seven runs scored and five RBI in a 4-0 week for the Anchorwomen. She
went 6-for-8 with a homer, two triples, six runs scored and two RBI in
RIC’s two-game sweep over UMass-Dartmouth on Apr. 21. |

For the season, she has played in 31 games, starting 30 of them. She
is batting a team-high .451 with a team-high 46 hits, 29 runs scored,
11 walks, 15 stolen bases, five triples and four home runs along with
nine doubles and 15 RBI. Her four home runs are a new RIC record for a
single season. Lotti owns a .755 slugging percentage, a .504 on base
percentage and a .965 fielding percentage. |

Lotti is a 2004 graduate of Waterford High School. |

|
Head Coach Maria Morin’s team is 20-12 overall and 9-1 in the
Little East Conference. The Anchorwomen had four doubleheaders
scheduled last week, however two of them were postponed due to
inclement weather. RIC went 4-0 on the week, taking two games from LEC
rival UMass Dartmouth (5-0, 8-3) on Tuesday, Apr. 19, before going on
the road and sweeping Westfield State (3-0, 6-0) on Thursday, Apr. 21.
The Anchorwomen started this week off with a two-game sweep over LEC
foe Western Connecticut (9-6, 8-2) on Tuesday, Apr. 26. |

In upcoming action, the Anchorwomen are scheduled to play two more
doubleheaders this week. The Anchorwomen will host LEC foe Plymouth
State on Friday, Apr. 29 at 3:30 p.m., before hosting LEC rival
Eastern Connecticut on Saturday, Apr. 30 at 1 p.m. |
