Rhode Island College Men’s Tennis Update #5

(7-7 Overall; 3-2 in the Little East)

Providence, RI--Head Coach Joe Testa’s team is 7-7 overall and 3-2 in the Little East Conference. RIC was 2-0 last week, defeating Johnson & Wales, 6-3, on Tuesday, Apr. 26 and LEC rival Bridgewater State, 5-4, on Friday, Apr. 29.

Senior co-captain Julio Andrade (Cranston, RI) is 12-2 (.857) at number three singles and 8-6 (.571) at number one doubles for a team-high 16.0 points on the season. Andrade was 2-0 at both number three singles and number one doubles in a 2-0 week for the Anchormen. He has been named the LEC’s Player of the Week once on the season.

Junior Barry Manfredi (Westerly, RI) is 8-6 (.571) at number one singles and 8-6 (.571) at number one doubles for 12.0 points on the season. Manfredi was 2-0 at number one doubles in a 2-0 week for the Anchormen.

Freshman Lorne Teeter (Warwick, RI) is 7-1 (.875) in singles for 7.0 points on the season. He went 2-0 at number six singles in a 2-0 week for the Anchormen. He has been named the LEC’s Rookie of the Week once on the season.

Junior Elliott LeFaiver (Warwick, RI) is 6-7 (.462) at number two singles and 4-10 (.286) at number two doubles for 8.0 points on the season. He was 2-0 at number four singles in a 2-0 week for the Anchormen.

Sophomore Tom Lapierre (Pascoag, RI) is 2-7 (.222) at number four singles and 4-10 (.286) at number two doubles for 4.0 points on the season.

Junior Chris Furey (Cabot, VT) is 1-6 (.143) at number five singles and 8-6 (.571) at number three doubles for 5.0 points on the season.

Junior co-captain Jason LaDuke (Warren, RI) is 8-6 (.571) at number three doubles for 3.0 points on the season.

Sophomore Richard Truchon (North Scituate, RI) is 2-11 (.154) in singles for 2.0 points on the season.

Sophomore Tauquir Puthawala (Lincoln, RI) is 5-1 (.833) in singles for 5.0 points on the season. He went 2-0 at number five singles in a 2-0 week for the Anchormen.

In upcoming action, the Anchormen play their final regular season match on Tuesday, May 3 at 3:30 against LEC foe UMass-Boston before traveling to Western Connecticut on Fri.-Sat. May 6-7 for the 2005 Little East Championships.
