Head Coach Maria Morin’s team has clinched at least a share of
the 2005 Little East Conference Softball Regular Season Championship.
All RIC needs to do to clinch the title outright is win one game in
its doubleheader with Eastern Connecticut on Tuesday, May 3. The
Anchorwomen will host the 2005 Little East Conference Softball
Tournament on May 5-7 regardless of what happens in the ECSU games.
RIC holds tiebreakers over the rest of the LEC field. |
|
|
|
This is
the first time in the program’s history that the Anchorwomen have
finished first in the conference. The team
is 21-13 overall and 10-2 in the Little East Conference. 2005 marks
RIC’s seventh consecutive season with 20 or more wins. |
|
|
|
The
Anchorwomen had two doubleheaders last week and went 3-1. RIC took two
games on the road from LEC rival Western Connecticut (9-6
10 INN,
8-2) on Tuesday, Apr. 26, before splitting two games at home with LEC
foe Plymouth State (3-0, 0-2) on Friday, Apr. 29. The regular season
finale vs. Eastern Connecticut was rained out on Saturday, Apr. 30 and
the games have been rescheduled for tomorrow afternoon. |
