Rhode Island College Men’s Tennis Update #6 |

8-7 Overall; 4-2 in the Little East;
Fifth Place at Little East Championships |

Providence, RI--Head
Coach Joe Testa’s team finished the regular season at the 2005
Little East Conference Men’s Tennis Championships, hosted by Western
Connecticut, on Friday and Saturday, May 6-7. The Anchormen placed
fifth overall (seven teams) with a team score of 8.0 |

RIC
saw its final regular season dual match action at UMass Boston on
Tuesday, May 3. The Anchormen defeated the Beacons, 7-2. RIC’s 8-7
campaign in 2005 marks the first winning season for the team since
1998 and the club’s eight victories are the most in a season since the
1995 squad won nine (9-4) |

Senior
co-captain Julio Andrade (Cranston, RI) was 14-3 (.824) at
number three singles and 10-7 (.588) at number one doubles for 19.0
points on the season. He was been named the LEC’s Player of the Week
once on the season. Andrade led the team in singles wins and points,
and was tied for the team-lead in doubles victories. He went 1-1 at
both number three singles and number one doubles at the LEC
Championships. |

Junior Barry Manfredi (Westerly, RI) was 9-8 (.529) at number
one singles and 10-7 (.588) at number one doubles for 14.0 points on
the season. Manfredi was second on the team in points, and was tied
with Lorne Teeter for singles wins and was tied with doubles partner
Julio Andrade for the team-lead in doubles wins. Manfredi went 1-1 at
both number one singles and doubles at the LEC Championships. |

Freshman
Lorne Teeter (Warwick, RI) was 9-2 (.818) at number six singles
for 9.0 points on the season. He was the LEC’s Rookie of the Week once
on the season. Teeter was fourth on the team in points. Teeter went
1-1 at the LEC Championships. |

Junior Elliott LeFaiver (Warwick, RI) was 8-8 (.500) at number
two singles and 6-11 (.353) at number two doubles for 11.0 points on
the season. LeFaiver was fourth on the team in singles wins and was
third in points. LeFaiver was 1-1 at both number four singles and
number two doubles at the LEC Championships. |

Sophomore
Tauquir Puthawala (Lincoln, RI) was 7-2 (.778) in singles for
7.0 points on the season. He was fifth on the team in singles
victories. Puthawala went 1-1 at number five singles at the LEC
Championships/ |

Sophomore
Tom Lapierre (Pascoag, RI) was 2-7 (.222) at number four
singles and 6-11 (.353) at number two doubles for 4.0 points on the
season. Lapierre was 1-1 at number two doubles at the LEC
Championships. |

Junior
Chris Furey (Cabot, VT) was 1-6 (.143) in singles and 9-7 (.563)
at number three doubles for 5.5 points on the season. Furey was tied
with doubles partner Jason LaDuke for third on the team in doubles
victories. Furey and LaDuke went 0-1 at number three doubles at the
LEC Championships. |

three doubles for 4.5 points on the season. LaDuke and Furey went 0-1

Richard Truchon (North Scituate, RI) was 2-14 (.125) in singles
for 2.0 points on the season. Truchon went 0-2 at number two singles
at the LEC Championships |
