Christie Lotti & Amy Machado Earn
All-New England Honors in Softball

Providence, RI—Rhode
Island College freshman first baseman Christie Lotti (Waterford,
CT) and senior third baseman Amy Machado (Newport, RI) were
named to the All-New England All-Star team by the National Fastpitch
Coaches Association. |
|
|
|
Lotti was
named First Team All-New England. She has
played in 39 games, starting 38 of them. She is batting a team-high
.438 with a team-high 56 hits, 33 runs scored, 13 walks, six triples,
five home runs and 16 stolen bases along with 12 doubles and 20 RBI.
Lotti has set RIC single-season records in hits and home runs
this spring. She tied the RIC single-season record for runs
scored. Lotti owns a .734 slugging percentage, a .489 on base
percentage and a .973 fielding percentage. She has named the Little
East Player of the Week once and was the LEC’s Rookie of the Week
twice this season. |

Machado was
a Third Team All-New England at-large selection. She
has played in 39 games, starting 38 of
them. She is batting .333 with 41 hits, two home runs, ten doubles,
two triples, 17 runs scored and a team-high 25 RBI. Machado owns a
.496 slugging percentage, a .376 on-base percentage and a .898
fielding percentage. She was named the team’s Most Valuable
Player. |

Head Coach
Maria Morin’s team is 25-14 overall and were the 2005 Little
East Conference Softball Regular Season Champions with a 12-2 record.
The Anchorwomen are currently in the midst of the Eastern College
Athletic Conference (ECAC) N.E. Div. III Softball Tournament. The
third-seeded Anchorwomen defeated sixth-seeded Elms, 10-2, on
Wednesday, May 11 and advanced to the double-elimination, four-team
round to be played this Saturday and Sunday, May 14-15 at
second-seeded Smith College. |
